‘Colors Are Free' awarded at Meihodo Int’l Youth Media fest

‘Colors Are Free' short documentary film has been awarded at the 4th annual Meihodo International Youth Media Festival (MIYVMF) in the US.

Directed and produced by Behnam Mohammadi, ‘Colors Are Free' succeeded to win some 1000$ cash prize of the 2022 edition of the event.

‘Colors Are Free' is a social film about an old man who is known as a master painter in pursuit of his lost past.

During the story, a young man named Mahyar joins him to learn painting and to discover the magic of colors; and this is when an old secret is revealed.

According to Mohammadi, the movie is captured in a different ambiance where the locations and frames look like paintings.

Manouchehr Alipour, Yousef Yazdani and Sepideh Pahlevanzadeh star in the movie. 

This year, Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker Michael Douglas served as guest of honor and advisor at the Meihodo festival.

The ceremony was organized via Japan-based Meihodo’s headquarters in New York City, and streamed on YouTube for the US audience.

Founded in 2018, the MIYVMF is one of the largest short film festivals in the world. The goal of festival is to bring young filmmakers from around the world together to celebrate the art of filmmaking.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Dreaming Big in the Digital Revolution.”

The winners were announced on on February 22, 2022.

More Iranian lineup at the event also included ‘Huntsman’ and ‘Slow and Sluggish’, both by Delavar Doustanian, ‘Grape Season’ by Behrouz Khorram, Soheila Pourmohammadi’s ‘The Savior’, ‘Goodnight Melika’ by Alborz Poursayyad, ‘Macular’ by Mohsen Tizhoush and Kasra Tirsaha’s ‘Gallu’.
